We had a great time at Sawgrass park today. We learned a great deal about the animals and their habitats. We learned the difference between weathered rock, weathering, erosion, and deposition. We learned interesting facts from the color markings on a 3 year old alligator to the edible parts of Spanish Moss that is neither Spanish nor a moss. You will want to ask your child to share a few facts that they learned today. We will continue our project work as we collect more facts and download the pictures that our student photographers took along the trail.
In Writer's Workshop, we will begin our practice writing to a prompt in preparation for the WraP portion of the ERB's. This assessment will take place on April 3rd and 4th.
I am encouraging my children to continue reading this year's Sunshine State books. Children who read at least 3 of these books, will qualify to vote in April for their favorite book. The voting days will be April 19, 20, 24, 25 here at school in the library.
The Spelling words this week are as follows: although, awkward, complain, constant, daughter, destroy, district, employ, farther, improperly, kindliness, knuckle, mischief, laughter, simply. Tonight for homework the children need to write each word once in cursive on the sheet that I gave them today.
Also tonight for homework, the children should review the homophone sheet that we worked on last week. Those homophones are very confusing and some of the ones that are misused the most often.
